Rifle Team Practice

Empire State Games ] Atlanta 2001 ] Pictures ] Matches & Results ] [ Practice ]

The Galway Junior Rifle Team practices on Friday Nights from 7-9

The season starts in October and ends after the Empire State Games (around mid July).

Before every practice coach gives us an informational and motivational talk to help us in the shooting we are about to do.

After the Wednesday Night Civilian Marksmanship Award Practices end, the team practices on Wednesday nights as well.  When it is warm enough, or weather permitting, on Wednesdays the team practices outdoors at 50 yard targets in preparation for the Empire State Games.  On Fridays they shoot indoors.

Heather and Amanda shoot outdoors at 50 yard targets

Shooting outdoors on Wednesday nights in practice for the Empire State Games tryouts in June, and if any shooters from the team qualify for the Empire State Games, they continue practicing on Wednesday and Friday nights.  The other team members have the option of continuing to practice with the team.

AMMUNITION

what most of the club members shoot for practice id Federal 711B
another good practice ammo is CCI Standard velocity

The best match Ammo is:
Eley Match EPS that goes for $690 a case
Winchester Supreme Match $455 a case
Federal 900B for $560 a case

Most team members use the Federal 711B for the local matches
But for large and important matches like the Empire State Games team members use Eley Match EPS, members usually split a brick.
