    More Pictures Of Atlanta

In March of 2001 the rifle team entered a statewide match to determine which New York State (4 person) Team would go to the Junior National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia.  Luckily that day was a great day for our four person team: Josh, Moni'k, Becky and Heather, they all did their personal best, and won the opportunity to go to Atlanta.

It may sound like they were in the clear, and ready to go to Atlanta and compete on a higher level...but there was a money issue.  Plane tickets, hotels, and food cost a lot of money for this adventure.  After a series of grants and raffles, the team raised money to at least cut the expenses of the unsure parents!

The team would be in Atlanta for 5 days: June 15-19, 2001.  They would arrive on the 15th, shoot for 3 days and depart on the 19th.

Even on the first match day the team did well.  They were trying to adjust to new surroundings, shooting habits, people and at the same time trying to keep their heads in focus to shoot at a national level.
The results of the First Match on June 16th are as follows:

Prone Becky 184 / 200
Moni'k 191 / 200
Heather 189 / 200
Josh 196 / 200

On the third day of the team's adventure in Atlanta, they shot in the finals, and ended up placing:......

  16th !

Great Job Team!

( they moved up 2 places from their qualifying score)

The team was extremely successful and had loads of fun.  Maybe another such team will arise from the Galway Junior Rifle Club?!
